Hannah closed her cellphone and went to her closet to look for something to wear, she grumbled to herself, pushing back many of the shirts she had, "No... That's not right... Not that one..." She scowled and chose a dark navy shirt that her grandfather gave her since he had been in the Navy, it said in white with the famous logo, "Navy Seal 1925" then slipped on some jeans that were just a tad cut up and then a jacket with a hood, the color was a lighter navy color then she put on her tennis shoes and checked the time, "Oh shit." It was near eight so she ran down the stairs, nearly stumbling over herself and went to her slick black car and drove off to the Gardens.
She slid the Mustang car to a halt in the parking lot, making a screeching noise from the skid and stepped out, shutting the door with a little slam she went towards the entrance of the park and sat on the bench, checking her phone to make sure she was on time and she was only a minute late so she waited for Jim, wondering if she should've invited him here or not. [not much. >< sorry.][/sup]

Jim had been kind of surprised to get a text from her, then again, she had waited until Saturday to give it a try. He wondered if she’d been on the edge of not texting for awhile, and that’s what kept her. And of course, she had texted, not called him like he would have preferred. Text messaging was going to be the end of his generation, he was sure of it. He got a funny idea about the end of the world happening as a result of a misunderstood text message. Jim sifted through his closet looking for his favorite green shirt with one hand and texted a message to Katie with the other. If anyone would appreciate that randomness, she would.
Settling on his outfit he glanced at the clock. It wasn’t like him to be running late, but that was the fact of the matter. He had told Hannah there was an orientation thing he had to attend and in truth he probably should have, but he didn’t. He had just received his new graphics card, the second for this computer and was too busy installing it to worry about orientation. Now it was almost 8:00 and he needed to take off.
He gave himself a spray of AXE before grabbing his keys and heading out the door. He wasn’t entirely sure where he was headed, but he had a general idea. Unfortunately, his general idea was wrong and after about 15 minutes of driving he sent her a quick text: “Went the wrong way, almost there. Sorry.” He hoped that would be enough to keep her happy until he got there. The first sign was a Mustang; black and much nicer than his car, which was more functional than anything, but he’d have to be able to drive his from Bullworth to Seattle a few times and better to do that in a Volvo than a ‘stang.
As he stepped out of the car, he saw her silhouette against the street lamp near the bench that she sat on. He toyed with the idea of surprising her, but he figured gentle was probably better for now. He tapped her gently on the shoulder with the single-stem pink and white dahlia from his earlier stop by the flower shop. He had to do something to make amends for being an ass and girls loved flowers. Roses were trite, he’d gone a different way. “I guess I should have gotten you two; one for being late and one for being an asshole at the coffee shop,” was all he said as he leaned over the bench. “Whaddya say? Pink enough for you?”

hannah walkerHannah looked down at her phone when it buzzed, a text from Jim and she shut it, already reading it so she waited for a few more minutes then froze, feeling a tap on her shoulder so she turned around and when she heard him talk and she saw the flowers she crooned, "Aww Jim, They're gorgeous, And you weren't a ass, I was. Pink's fine.. They're very pretty." She looked over at him with a smile then looked back at the flowers, "Pink Dahilia.. Nice." She thought and she stood to face him instead of him leaning over, she looked down the brightly-lit garden's path then back at him with a tilt of her head, "You ready to go in or do you wanna hang out right here?" She gently took the flowers from his hand, hoping it wasn't awkward or anything like it had been at the coffee shop. [/sup]

Jim matched her as she stood upright. Giving her a very subtle once-over he was reassured of what a good idea this was. There was definitely something worth seeing under the jacket, that was for sure. “Glad you like them,” he said with a grin, handing the flowers over. He hated roses, with a passion in fact. He’d bought a dozen dozens (that is, 144) roses for one girl once; biggest mistake of his life. Never, ever again, he’d told himself and so dahlias were the flower of the evening.
Moderately curious about the garden, but more interested in getting them somewhere that was less well-lit, Jim came around to the front of the bench where she was busy with her flower. Offering her his arm, he tipped his head in the direction of the path. “Let’s give this a try,” he said, ready to move as soon as she was. “Coffee shops are a terrible place to meet people,” he offered as an excuse for both of their behavior. “I was glad you texted me. I mean, I’m still glad…” he stumbled a bit, but in that way that he’d been told previously was rather charming.

Okay, so this was going all right. They made their way down the path and in between planters of flowers and things. “I didn’t even really know this place was down here,” he mentioned, taking in the scenery. “But I don’t really know where a lot of places are.” He added. Living in Bullworth was an education. It was smaller than Seattle by a long shot, but there were all these sort of ‘down the road past the tree, turn a left’ kind of places that he’d been curious to explore.
Of course, if he was in the mood for exploration, there was a whole person now attached to his arm that would be far more interesting than the little sights of the town. They were rounding a bend which was home to a large weeping willow tree and several small bushes. “Let’s try in there,” he said walking her off the path and under the tree. He parted the long, dragging branches to the inside. “Yea, this is nice.”

Jim watched her walk away; it was definitely not a bad view. She was well shaded by the branches of the trees from the street lamps, stinting the dark night. She was definitely cute; skinny little body, with curves in all the right places. Before she could be away from him for too long, he leaned against the other side of the tree and brushed a stray bit of hair out of her eyes. “Why not?” He said, tucking her hair behind her ear. It was a classic move that the girls seemed to like and it brought them that much closer together.
He was remembering the kind of guy he was supposed to be and that guy wasn’t going to be like the idiot in the coffee shop. That guy was a socially retarded moron with very little idea of what he was doing and where he was going; absolutely no clue what his reactions his own actions would cause; the kind of idiot who would let the fact that a girl owns an iPod get in his way.

The night air was a bit thick; sort of hanging, the way it does between springtime and winter. It was slightly too warm for the jackets they were both wearing, but it probably would have been slightly uncomfortable without them. Jim grinned and noticed the moonlight dance of Hannah’s brown eyes. She really was pretty cute; cute enough for him, anyway.
He leaned forward, resting his arm against the tree just above her head. She was tall for a girl, but shorter than him by a few inches. They seemed to be matched pretty well height wise. It wouldn’t have mattered if they weren’t, he had other things on his mind. With his free hand he took her chin and tipped it upward toward his face. “I’m glad you picked here too,” he said quietly. Anyone outside the wall of tree branches would not have heard a sound. Jim lowered himself toward Hannah, to kiss her.

He was tired of this weird sense of hesitation. She seemed into this and they’d been chatting enough already tonight. “I’m just doing what I wanted to do in the coffee shop,” he said with a Cheshire grin. And that was all the warning she got before he pressed his lips against hers. There was a bit of a hard edge to it; he definitely had some kind of purpose behind the kiss. His hand had lowered from her face and slid down to her side and rested gently against her hip. Jim stopped before he could have possibly made her uncomfortable. “I’ll be sorry, if you want me to be,” he said softly, brushing the hair out of her face with his hand that rested against the tree.

“I like that,” he said, taking his hand and gently touching her lip where she was biting it softly. He pushed away from the tree a bit and set that hand on her hip and leaned in again, taking her lower lip in his and kissing it gently. Jim pulled his face away from hers only slightly and whispered. “Be careful though, you don’t want to hurt yourself,” he teased. He pulled her close again and kissed her, deeper this time and with more intention. One of his hands was wrapped firmly around her hip and the other found the nape of her neck.
His hand was tangled slightly in her hair, but that did not stop him, he continued to kiss her and took the smallest bite at her lower lip. “Had to try for myself,” he explained, pulling a little ways away from her. This was kind of ridiculous; they’d shared a cup of coffee and looked at her iPod and now here they were under the tree in the gardens making out. It was fine with him, however – he wasn’t about ready to say anything. In fact, it would be just fine with him if the evening continued in this fashion.
